Fellow Cyclist, Dump That T-Shirt Right Now

If you’re one of those cyclists who still cycles around in t-shirt, then read on below by all means. Below listed are the reasons why every cyclist should switch to a good apparel for you – no matter how embarrassing you might think they are!
• Material – the simplest reason is material. A custom cycling jersey is made for cycling: the polyester material it is made from serves to wick away the sweat you’ll work up while cycling. Basically, this means that the jersey draws away the sweat from the skin, and lets it evaporate. T-shirts do not have this function, and they soon become soaked up with your sweat – once you stop, you’ll definitely feel cold and even catch a cold.
• Tight fit – a custom cycling jersey is always meant to be fitting to your body. While this not only helps to wick away sweat better by keeping contact with your body, it also serves to reduce wind resistance and make your body more streamlined. A simple t-shirt will flap about while cycling, and this is not only annoying – but it also works against you as you won’t be able to go as fast as when you’d wear a jersey instead.
• Pockets – cycling jerseys feature rear pockets. Normally there are around two to three pockets. You can store gels, energy bars and your personal details like licenses and identity cards in them. Now, if you wore a t-shirt, you’d need a separate bag or something – the breast pocket or anything a t-shirt offers can’t possibly compare! (Incidentally, any cycling jersey without rear pockets is not a cycling jersey, so don’t even bother buying them!)
• Back tail – lastly, all cycling jerseys have back tails – that is, they are longer in the back than they are in the front. This is to make sure that your back is covered even when you’re in the inclined position while riding (and prevent displaying anything you wouldn’t want to display). They also will have tighter fabric bands or silicone grippers on the sleeves and in the bottom part for the same reason – to prevent the jersey from riding up while you’re cycling (it’s a good idea to incline yourself as if you were in a riding position when testing cycling jerseys to see if they ride up or not).
Thus, as you can see, there are many reasons why cycling jerseys are much better than your average t-shirts. They are made expressly for the purpose of cycling, so they have many advantages normal t-shirts do not have. Therefore, get over any embarrassments you have over wearing a cycling jersey – also because they’re not embarrassing, but cool – and go buy one right now!
